The views and atmosphere are beyond great. They often have live music. Do not miss the sunset and be sure to bring your camera!

1 Hotel Hanalei Bay Beach

There are steps leading down from the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay Beach. They are located to the left of the main entrance as you pull up. The steps are equivalent to about nine flights of stairs.  You will definitely feel a burn on the way back up!  If you have a health condition or knee problems, you should plan on driving down to Hanalei.

Close to Makai Golf Club

Kamahana Townhomes are within a short walk to Makai Golf Club. The Makai Golf Club is spectacular. They have a renovated and redesigned oceanfront course that is the stuff of legends. There is also an amazing woods course that is beautiful, extremely challenging and very rewarding too. The woods course is less played so it can feel more private.

Guests of Princeville Vacations enjoy taking part in Makai events and classes. Makai Golf Club has a very popular junior golfer day camp. This instruction group for kids is very popular with our guests who have children.

Close to Princeville Center

Kamahana Townhomes are convenient to Princeville Center and all of Princeville Resort. Princeville Resort is nestled ideally between the lush sea-cliffs of Kauai’s north shore mountains, the Princeville Ranch and the Makai Golf Club. You will enjoy views of legendary Bali Hai and may even catch sight of Kauai’s ancient Taro fields.

Princeville Center is located right in the heart Princeville Resort. It is one of the North Shore’s favorite gathering places. Princeville Center has a wonderful selection of offerings including grocery shopping, a hardware store, boutiques, restaurants and live music! Princeville Center is a comfortable gathering place and rest stop while for locals and visitors of Kauai’s North Shore. There are several great restaurant options in the Princeville Center. You can order take out or stay to enjoy the live music while dining on the huge covered lanai. You can catch their live music Sunday thru Thursday evenings in the food court pavilion area, usually from 6-8pm.

Nearby Town of Hanalei

Just a three miles away is world renowned Hanalei & Hanalei Bay. The short drive only takes a few minutes. Keep your eyes open. You might spot buffalo. Just outside of Princeville town center you will bank a hard left and start your descent into Hanalei. Just at the turn you will see a huge vista open up. Be sure to stop and take some pictures. The view is one of the best on the island!

Hanalei has much to offer. Hanalei has some of the best dining on the island. In addition to great restaurants, you will also find plenty of wonderful gift shops and boutiques. Hanalei has really good surf shops for clothes and equipment. It also has equipment rental shops. There are wonderful clothing, jewelry and gift boutiques; yoga studios, hair salons and more. Don’t forget the Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings. It is one of the best on Kauai and has a great selection of local craft perfect for gifts.

Nearby North Shore Kauai Beaches

Kamahana Townhomes are close to some of Kauai’s best beaches.

Local Sea Life

You will likely see an array tropical fish. You may spot Hawaii’s state fish, the humuhumunukunukuapua’a (triggerfish) and uhu (parrotfish), kala (unicornfish) and other tropical fish.  Take it very slow and you might spot a flounder or helmet gurnard camouflaged in the sandy shallows.  You won’t be able to detect them until you catch one move!  If you are lucky, you might spot a Lionfish or Leaf Scorpionfish, tucked between the branches of the coral. Whitemouth Moray Eels are also common on the reef here.

Sea turtles live and play off the North Coast of Kauai.  The sea turtles are not afraid of snorkelers and you can get close but please give them space. Never try to touch a sea turtle! They are protected and you could be fined $1000 for disturbing them.

Whale Watching

You can spot whales during season. Humpback Whales start their migration to Hawaii in October/November and head back to Alaska in late May. The peak of whale watching season is typically February and March. They come to the warm Hawaiian water to breed. During breeding season they are more active on the surface of the ocean. This gives you lots of opportunity to see the whales breaching and frolicing in their awesome glory.
