Nestled around the island are 10 golf courses to challenge your skills and make your vacation truly memorable. Whether you want to play a resort course or an independent course, Kauai’s world-class golf will offer you a memorable experience with mountain views and seascapes setting the greens.

Princeville’s North Shore boasts stunning scenery and a utopic setting for three gorgeous courses. PGA legend Jack Nicklaus and renowned golf architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed courses in the North Shore, offering visitors diverse holes and an overall enjoyable golf experience.

Makai Golf Club at Princeville
What used to be Ocean and Lakes nine is now the distinctive 18-hole Makai Golf Club at Princeville, which was recently renovated and re-turfed in 2010, although still maintaining its original design and architecture by Robert Trent Jones Jr. Sitting high atop a rolling plateau, this course offers majestic views of Hanalei Bay while emphasizing a serene setting to enjoy a friendly game of golf. The par-3 No. 3 on the first nine is one of the most memorable holes highlighting an elevated tee to a water protected green 100 ft. below. Makai Golf Club is known as a playable course so your experience is enjoyable. Amenities include club rentals, driving range, pro shop, and a snack bar.

Makai Golf Club at Princeville-Woods Course
Makai was the first resort course on Kauai and was one of two 27-hole courses in Hawaii. The nine holes formerly known as Woods is now a separate 9-hole course known as the Woods Course. If you are looking for a family-friendly experience, a casual golf experience, or if you consider yourself a novice golfer, the Woods Course at Makai will fulfill your dream experience. Surrounded by stunning trees and greenery, the course is more inland, flat and can be played for about a quarter of the cost as Makai’s 18-hole course. Amenities include club rentals, driving range, pro shop, and a snack bar.

Prince Golf Course at Princeville at Hanalei
The Prince Golf Course offers the quintessential golf experience boasting beautiful scenery, memorable holes, and a 390 acre course set above Kauai’s north shoreline. Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course’s architect, incorporated the course’s unique geographical gems including deep ravines, tropical jungle, streams and an awe-inspiring waterfall. Memorable holes include the signature seventh hole, with spectacular views of Anini Beach and sitting 165 ft. below. Burma Road is the highly imaginative 10th hole starting off the back nine, featuring sharp 90 degree turns and the deep jungle ravine lining the left side. The 13th hole will leave you awestruck at the green! Amenities include a 60,000 sq. foot club house, club rentals, driving range, pro shop, and a restaurant.

Exploring the rest of the island offers you several stunning courses to choose from on every shore. Eastside features Wailua Golf Course, which is Kauai’s sole municipal golf courses and widely known as one of America’s best public golf courses. South shore includes Kaihuna Golf Course known for showcasing ancient ruins, Kukuiolono Golf Course, which is a great kept secret and perfect for beginners, and Poipu Bay Golf Course famous for hosting the PGA of America’s Grand Slam from 1994-2006. Lihue comprises Kauai Lagoons Golf Club, which is widely known for surreal views, exceptional service and Jack Nicklaus’s three 9-hole courses, and Puakea Golf Course, which is the newest course on the island. Kauai’s spectacular scenery, world-class golf courses, and sandy beaches await you. Find your perfect vacation rental in Kauai! Aloha.
