Albatross Return to Princeville Kauai

We are happy to see the albatrosses are returning again this Winter to our beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii. The albatross take as many as 5 years to reach maturity. They then spend several years learning an intricate and wonderful mating ritual that includes dancing, gestures and sounds. This goes on for 3-5 years while the great sea birds perfect their dance and choose a single mate. Each year the birds return to dance with fewer and fewer birds until they finally dance with just one ~ their mate for life.
This video shows a single albatross bedding down to wait for the return of its lifelong mate. It’s exciting and heartwarming.
