Big Surf From Northwest Swell
The North shores of Kaua’i and other Hawaiian Islands are seeing big surf from Northwest swell. The huge Northwest swell has been pumping since late Tuesday. Great news for our big wave surfers! Big wave surfers are getting towed into these giant swells and they are putting on an incredible show! Very cool too for visitors who have been lining our shore to take in the Northwest swell +big surf.
The Northwest swell is generating big surf from 20 to 30 feet. The waves are too big to paddle in. Big wave surfers are being towed in with jet skis. This keeps the action pretty fast moving. There is sometimes too much to watch! Especially when the surf is breaking way out at King’s Reef like it was on Wednesday.
The National Weather Service has a warning in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday. It is still best to exercise caution. Remember the local warnings:
- When in doubt, don’t go out
- Never turn your back on the surf
- Always keep your eyes on the keiki (children)
Aloha and keep enjoying the gorgeous North Shore of Kauai ~ The Garden Island!
